The man on the ground: this 75mm scale resin figure depicts Abraham Woodhull, the Long Island farmer who became the leading agent of Washington’s Culper Spy Ring in 1778. Operating under the cover name “Samuel Culper”, Woodhull risked everything to gather intelligence in British-held New York. Sculpted by Alan Ball, he is a key character in our “Washington’s Spies” range, inspired by the AMC series TURN.

The kit is a multi-part resin figure supplied unassembled and unpainted, and requires assembly. Any groundwork shown in the photographs was provided by the artist and is not included. Not suitable for children under 12.

Painting this figure

Plain civilian dress — coat, waistcoat and worn breeches — makes a wonderful change of pace from uniforms, and a real exercise in painting cloth. As Washington’s director of military intelligence, Tallmadge organised and ran the Culper Spy Ring that fed the American command its best information on British movements.
